After the April 7th, 2011 American Idol results show, there will be only eight contestants left to battle it out to the very sweet end. Let’s face it; if you got this far on American Idol, you are destined for success, fame and glory. So who gets to leave a little early? Surprisingly, Pia Toscano was voted out. You can find out more about her by reading this Pia Toscano bio. The show started with the usual cameo. Clips of the contestant's competition concerns were shown and then the judges pranced onto the stage and took their seats. Ryan Seacrest followed. The crowd stood up for the judges and host. Ryan begins the show by announcing that the results may be surprising.
The audience was told that Constantine James Maroulis would be the guest alumni for tonight's show and Iggy Pop would be the guest star. The top 9 contestants quickly took the stage and performed a Rock Medley. The ladies kicked it off with “I Love Rock and Roll” by Joan Jett and The Blackhearts. Then men then took over and sang the Lynyrd Skynyrd hit song “Sweet Home Alabama.”
The show broke away to a 2012 Ford Focus commercial featuring the contestants. It was well done. Next comedian Russell Edward Brand walked gawkily down the steps to give the remaining contestants some performing advice. Russell stars in the new “Authur” movie. Mr. Brand suggested that the contestants “limber-up” when performing. He said not to fear the judges and had some of the contestants sit in the judge's chairs. And before leaving, Russell said to the contestants, “Take your clothes off and don't take things too seriously!”
OK, then Ryan Seacrest brought Casey Abrams, Lauren Alaina and Stefano Langone to center stage to announce the first American Idol contestant to be in the bottom three. After discussing their April 6th, 2011 performances Ryan Seacrest announced that Stefano Langone was in the bottom three.
After a commercial break, season four alumni Constantine Maroulis takes the stage as returning guest alumni and performs “Unchained Melody” by The Righteous Brothers. Some of his notes seemed a little off but overall the performance was strong with a gritty guitar background. Constantine cooled it down to end the song well. Before leaving the stage he announced that he was touring with “The Rock of Ages” and recently became the father of a newborn daughter.
Next, clips of Gwen Stefani dressing the female contestants were shown. She was happy to help the contestants and couldn't wait to see them perform in the attire she helped to pick.
Paul McDonald, Scotty McCreery and Pia Toscano come to the stage and Ryan Seacrest discussed their recent performances. Then Ryan announces that Scotty and Paul are “Safe” but Pia Toscano has dropped into the bottom three.
Next, Harvey Levin and the crew of the syndicated, entertainment and gossip news show “TMZ” give the American Idol contestants some media relations advice. Some of the suggestions were “do not get arrested, strike a pose for the cameras, watch your lipstick, update your Twitter page, don't fall down on camera and hire a lawyer.” It was very good advice.
Then James Durbin, Haley Reinhart and Jacob Lusk took the stage to find out that Jacob Lusk was the final member of the current bottom three. Guest performer Iggy Pop sang “Real Wild Child”, shirtless… And then the shocking announcement was made.
Out of the bottom three, Pia Toscano was voted off the show. The audience, the judges and the contestants as well were stunned. She sang “I'll Stand by You” as her final song and everyone cried.
Those fond of conspiracy theories are saying that Pia's elimination is all AT&T's fault.
